Contemporary Messages, Music in Concert from the IAS Friday Night

The Classical Network In Concert this Friday at 8 pm presents Music from the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, featuring the Philadelphia-based choral ensemble The Crossing led by Music Director and founder Donald Nally.

The program includes three works with political and cultural inspiration and messages very present in our world today -- music of Ted Hearne dealing with the relationships and respect between men and women; Caroline Shaw’s work about helping others from other cultures and countries who seek refuge here; and David Lang’s “The National Anthems,” which quotes phrases from national anthems from every country in the world, seeking common ground as a human race.

Lang, who is the IAS Artist-in-Residence, and David Osenberg co-host the broadcast of this concert, part of the Edward T. Cone Series, presented at Wolfensohn Hall last November.
