Mark Ainley's Piano Files Meet Between the Keys July 24th

In 2017 The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler celebrated what would have been Dinu Lipatti's 100th birthday with a special episode on his ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award Winning program Between the Keys. Fast forward to a years later, and several fresh Lipatti discoveries.

"A small yet important group of previously unknown Lipatti recordings came to light around ten years ago, and have just come out on the Marston label," says Distler. "The story about their discovery and ultimate publication is quite fascinating."

"It was Mark Ainley who first alerted me to these recordings a few years back. Mark is one of the world's leading authorities on Dinu Lipatti. He's also a devoted historian, researcher and enthusiast on the topic of historic piano recordings in general. So when Mark recently visited New York, I invited him to sit down for an interview, and we recorded enough material for two, possibly three shows. That's how informative, insightful and thoroughly entertaining Mark is."

On this week's episode of Between the Keys, Mark Ainley showcases and talks about these newly released Dinu Lipatti performances, as well as his popular Facebook page "Mark Ainley's Piano Files," a valuable resource for all things pianistic.

Listen Tuesday July 24th at 10 PM on The Classical Network WWFM.org.
