Opera Philadelphia Unveils Plans for O18 Festival

With the successful launch of its new Fall festival format under with its belt, Opera Philadelphia this week announced its plans for its O18 Festival. The festival will run September 20-30, 2018, bringing two world premieres, two new productions and some other treats to opera audiences at a variety of venues. Among the featured works are a new production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor by director and designer Laurent Pelley, and the world premiere of Sky on Swings, by composer Lembit Beecher and librettist Hannah Moscovitch, featuring Frederica von Stade and Marietta Simpson as two aging women dealing with Alzheimers. This Saturday (3/24 at 7 pm) on A Tempo, host Rachel Katz chats with Opera Philadelphia New Works Administrator Sarah Williams and Senior Vice President, Artistic Operations David Levy about O18 and the rest of Opera Philadelphia's 2018-2019 season.
