Pianist Yerko Difonis has pursued his love of music even while navigating the challenges he faced growing up blind and with a hearing impairment. Now a graduate student in piano performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, he has continued his passion with the support of the school, including a system to ensure he has the necessary Braille scores to practice and prepare his musical selections. A Tempo host Rachel Katz chats with Difonis and his instructor, Mason Gross piano faculty member Karina Bruk, this Saturday (8/21 at 7 pm), about his early experience with music and adapting to life as a graduate student during the Coronavirus pandemic.
