Westminster Conservatory presents its annual showcase featuring Westminster ensembles and students on Sunday, February 17 at 3 pm in Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall on the Princeton University campus. The concert will feature the Westminster Community Orchestra conducted by Ruth Ochs as well as the Westminster Conservatory Children’s Choirs conducted by Patricia Thel and Yvonne Macdonald, winners of the Westminster Conservatory Concerto Competition, and students of the Westminster Choir College Opera Workshop, directed by professors Susan Ashbaker and Nova Thomas. Michaela Guo will perform movements 3 and 4 from Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1; Annie Wei will perform Burleske for Piano and Orchestra by Richard Strauss. The program also includes Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, “Andante” from Mozart’s Lo sposo deluso (The Deluded Groom), “Furiant” from Smetana’s The Bartered Bride, selections from Vivaldi’s Gloria, and “Art thou Troubled?” from Handel’s Rodelinda. The concert concludes with “Make our Garden Grow” from Leonard Bernstein’s Candide.
