The Dress Circle: New Songs Added to the Film - Part 2

After last month’s look at new songs that were added to film versions of musicals, we found that we had enough material for another program, and this week’s Dress Circle (10/24 7:00 p.m.) is the result.   Some of the films from which we’ve mined our songs include “Bells Are Ringing,” “Call Me Madam,” “Grease,” “Guys and Dolls,” “The Music Man,” “Evita,” and “On the Town.”   Our selection of songs added by both the original shows' creators and others includes “Pet Me Poppa,” “Being in Love,” “What Chance Have I with Love,” “You’re Awful,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “Prehistoric Man.”

The vocalists of the evening include Vivian Blaine, Donald O’Connor, Christopher Walken, Barbra Streisand, Gene Kelly, Betty Garrett, Frank Sinatra, Judy Holliday, Marlon Brando, and Olivia Newton-John.

Michael is program host and host of the WWFM Sunday Opera, Sundays at 3 pm, and co-host of The Dress Circle, Sundays at 7 pm.
