A Paul Badura-Skoda Tribute on Between the Keys October 22nd

On this week's episode (No. 226) of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, the Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler pays tribute to the late Austrian pianist, scholar and period instrument pioneer Paul Badura-Skoda, who passed away September 25th.

"Although Badura-Skoda mostly is associated with the central Austro/German school of composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schibert and Brahms," says Distler, "he actually had real idiomatic affinity for a wide range of repertoire. I once heard him play exquisite Ravel in concert, and don't foget his close association with composer Frank Martin. Also, Badura-Skoda's Chopin Etudes: very, very well played, and quite poetic!"

Selections include Badura-Skoda on a number of instruments, from harpsichord and fortepiano and accordion to the modern concert grand, in works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Martin, Brahms, Debussy and others.

Tune in Tuesday night at 10:00 for Between the Keys exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM> org.
