On a Positive Note: Opera Singers Share Uplifting Performance

In the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando in 2016, composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell wrote an uplifting anthem called Light Shall Lift Us. The reassuring and hopeful tone of the piece seemed to address the mood in our present-day situation, and Moravec said they turned to Opera America to find an opportunity to share it. The result is a stirring, virtual performance by more than 100 opera singers, each part joining in gradually with the voices building to create a beautiful tapestry of comfort. Moravec talks about putting it all together.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
