A Tempo: McCarter Theatre Adapts Work on Mental Health for Covid-19 Era

McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton had planned to bring a staged reading of "The Manic Monologues," a collection of stories from people struggling with mental illness, as part of its 2019-2020 season, but the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting shut-down of public performances threatened to keep it from moving forward. Believing its message was even more critical during these challenging times, McCarter's staff sought to adapt it to a virtual format, and the result is an production featuring the stories told in a compelling online format, including some experiences of those impacted by the events of the past year, and a virtual resource guide that audience members could access for more information. A Tempo host Rachel Katz this Saturday (3/6 at 7 pm) speaks with McCarter Theatre Resident Producer Debbie Bisno and Director Elena Araoz, a Princeton University faculty member and leader of Princeton's Innovations in Social Distant Performance.

Rachel Katz is the host of A Tempo which airs Saturdays at 7 pm.
