Curtis Calls Monday this week includes:

Sonata for Flute & Piano by Yuko Uebayashi with Emma Resmini, flute & Clara Gerdes, piano; 

Saint-Saens' Tarantelle, op. 6 with Lydia Roth, flute, Slavko Popovic, clarinet & Micah McLaurin, piano; and

Haydn's String Quartet in B-flat, op. 50 no. 1 with violinists, Shannon Lee & Gloria Ferry-Brennan, violist Zsche Chuang Rimbo Wong & cellist Andres Sanchez.

Curtis Calls this Monday (7/3) includes Beethoven's String Quartet, op. 18 no. 4 with Laura Park, Alexandra Switala, Kunbo Xu & Young In Na.  Linzi Pan plays J.S. Bach's 3rd English Suite and guitarist Xiaobo Pu plays Henze's "Drei Tentos."  Join us for music from student recitals at the Curtis Institute of Music Monday evenings at 10.

This week's (6/21 & 6/26) Curtis Calls is a vocal recital with faculty member Michael Eliasen accompanying soprano Emily Pogorelc in "Drei Lieder der Ophelia" by Richard Strauss, mezzo Sophia Fiuza Hunt in "Tre Ariette" by Vincenzo Belini and bass-baritone Vartan Gabrielian in "Songs of Travel" by Ralph Vaughn-Williams.  Violist Roberto Diaz and mezzo Lauren Eberwein join Eliasen in "Zwei Gesange" by Brahms.  Curtis Calls, music from student recitals at the Curtis Institute of Music, Wednesdays at noon and Monday evenings at 10.

We'll hear pianist George Xiaoyuan Fu in Brahms' Variations on a Theme of Handel and Zsche Chuang Rimbo Wong on solo viola in Benjamin Britten's Suite No. 3, op. 87.  

Curtis Calls features violinist Alexandra Switala in Jeno Hubay's Carmen Fantasy, Haydn's String Quartet opus 50 no. 3, and "Myths", op. 30 by Karol Szymanowski along with soprano Emily Pogorelc singing Lilli Boulanger's "Pie Jesu."

Cellist Will Chow joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in September 2016.  This week on Curtis Calls, from his graduation recital at the Curtis Institute we broadcast the Cello Sonata by Chopin and Beethoven's 3rd sonata for Piano and Cello.  Composer Andrew Hsu, now at the Julliard School is the pianist.
