After a career as a dancer and choreographer, Liza Gennaro noticed a major gap in the literature available about the history of dance - there seemed to be very little about the origins and development of dance on the musical theater stage that treated it as its own art form. Gennaro's efforts to fill this gap are presented in her new book, Making Broadway Dance, and A Tempo this Saturday (4/23) features an interview with her. A Tempo host Rachel Katz speaks with Gennaro about this history, and some of the directions Broadway dance may be heading.
