A Tempo: Musical Siblings Share Stories of Pandemic Performances, Family Music with Students

James Hole/James Hole

A Tempo this Saturday (4/30 at 7:00 pm) features an interview with Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason, who performed this week at Princeton University Concerts and met with music students at Trenton Central High School.

Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason made their Princeton University Concerts debut this past week as part of their American tour. As with other musicians, the British siblings have been happy to be back to live performances after the pandemic - but in their case, living with five other musical siblings made it possible to keep up with performing. This week on A Tempo, they speak with host Rachel Katz about some of their live-streamed concerts during the pandemic, the joy of returning to live audiences and the music they're featuring on their current tour. The duo also visited Trenton Central High School, where they performed a few pieces for music students and sat in to play some works with the orchestra. This week's show also features conversations with some of these students about the visit, and having role models to look up to.
