When American Repertory Ballet Artistic Director Ethan Stiefel commissioned choreographer Meredith Rainey for a new work for this year's season, Rainey turned to a young composer he had known from his years with Pennsylvania Ballet. At the time, Miranda Scripp was the daughter of the ballet's conductor and music director, Beatrice Jona Affron, and she is now a music theory and composition student at New York University, with a focus on screen and film scores. A Tempo host Rachel Katz chats with Rainey and Scripp about their work, which will have its world premiere at ARB's opening performance next weekend, Oct. 13 - 15.
