The Art of Stecher & Horowitz

On this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys. the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler plays host to pianists and educators Melvin Stecher and Norman Horowitz for an hour of music and conversation.

In 1951 Stecher and Horowitz merged their individual talents to create what would become one of America’s most successful and enduring piano duos. In addition, the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation is responsible for creating the New York International Piano Competition and its professional programs for young artists, including the Young Artists Series.

Musical selections will include pieces by Chopin, Milhaud and Shostakovich, plus Walter Piston’s Concerto for Two Pianos, a work commissioned for and premiered by Stecher and Horowitz.

Tune in to Between the Keys on Friday December 1st at 3:00 PM and Saturday December 2nd at 6:00 PM for the rebroadcast, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
