Every holiday season brings forth a special episode on the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys that is entirely devoted to the keyboard sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti.
"Since Bach and Handel always get airplay this time of year, I always make sure that the other great Baroque master born in 1685 doesn't get ignored," says the Classical Network's artist-in-residence Jed Distler, who is the creator, producer and host of Between the Keys. "Scarlatti's Sonatas are as delightful and varied as Christmas cookies, and couldn't be better suited to festive occasions."
Pianists featured on this all-Scarlatti episode are Vladimir Horowitz, Clara Haskil, Christoph Ullrich, Mordecai Shehori, Katia Braunschweiler, Fou Ts'ong, Christian Ihle Hadland and Käbi Laretei.
Tune in this Friday at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday at 6:00 PM. Between the Keys is an exclusive production of The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
