For this week's episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler presents Scriabin's Preludes Op. 11 with twelves pianists.
"The idea is to have one pianist play Preludes 1 & 2, then another for Preludes 3 & 4, and yet another doing numbers 5 & 6, and so on and so forth. This way we hear the cycle of Preludes in succession with an interesting variety of interpreters."
Here is a list of the pianists playing Op. 11: Mikhail Pletnev (Preludes 1 & 2), Walter Gieseking (3 & 4), Evelyn Chang (5 & 6), Klara Min (7 & 8), Ludmilla Berlinskaja (9 & 10), Yuja Wang (11 & 12), Vladimir Horowitz (13 & 14), Boris Petrushansky (15 & 16), Gina Bachauer (17 & 18), Vanessa Benelli Mossel (19 & 20), Vladimir Sofronitsky (21 & 22) and Piers Lane (23 & 24).
We'll also hear Scriabin's Piano Sonata No. 8 in a new recording by Yunjie Chen.
Tune in to Between the Keys this Friday at 3:00 PM, with the rebroadcast Saturday at 6:00 PM, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
