The Orchestra Now

In this concert broadcast Friday (7/14 at 8 pm), Leon Botstein leads the musicians of The Orchestra Now (TON) in George Walker's Lilacs and Joan Tower's Flute Concerto.

In this concert recorded last September, TON performs the Pulitzer Prize-winning Lilacs for Voice and Orchestra by George Walker and Joan Tower's Flute Concerto, featuring two recent graduates of Bard College as soloists - Samantha Martin, soprano ('22), and Andrea Abel, flute ('23). The program also includes Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5. Bard College President Leon Botstein conducts the orchestra, which is comprised of young musicians from across the globe's great conservatories and music schools.

David Osenberg is WWFM Partnership Manager, WWFM Music Director, Afternoon Host, and Host of award-winning Cadenza.
