Music that Looks to the Heavens from the Bach Choir of Bethlehem Broadcast

The choir performs two works about the heavens and the cosmos composed about 300 years apart in this concert broadcast Monday (12/16 at 8 pm) and Christmas Day at 8 pm.

This unique and inventive pairing brings together J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV1 Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern (How Brightly Shine the Morning Star) and The Consolation of Apollo by American composer Kile Smith, which brings together text by the 5th century philosopher Boethius and the transmission of Apollo 8 Moon Mission as they viewed earth on Christmas Eve 1968, read the Creation story from Genesis and wished everyone on Earth a Merry Christmas. The soloists, Bach Choir and Bach Festival Orchestra are led by the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Bach Choir, Dr. Christopher Jackson, who joins David Osenberg as host.

David Osenberg is WWFM Partnership Manager, WWFM Music Director, Afternoon Host, and Host of award-winning Cadenza.
