“But wait! There’s more!”, and it’s that “more” that we’ll be looking at for the next three Dress Circles in the form of CD bonus tracks. This week’s program (1/8 7:00 p.m.) will feature just a few of the bonus tracks added to CDs of film “musicals.”
These bonus tracks come in many forms. On a CD of “The Wizard of Oz,” for instance, we’ll sample a recording added of Judy Garland singing a Kern/Harbach/Hammerstein song from the musical “Sunny” entitled “Who?”.
Less far afield, we’ll hear from the Sherman Brothers, the composing team for many Disney films, performing in three demos for “Mary Poppins” including a song that was written for Julie Andrews but one she supposedly didn’t care for, so it didn’t make it into the film.
Other than these, you’ll hear from performers like Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Jeanette MacDonald, Robert Merrill, Gordon MacRae, Danny Kaye, Paul Michael Glaser, and Judy Garland.
It’ll be another program of unexpected finds and some wonderful performances, so we hope you’ll tune in this Sunday evening.
