The Lost Chord: Apr. 10 - King Solomon's Lines
The Song of Songs contains some of the most ardent poetry ever written. Whether interpreted as the communion of man and woman, or as something of a more allegorical nature (for example, the divine love of Israel), over the centuries the Biblical book has inspired some meltingly lovely music. It is customary to read from the Songs as part of the observance of Passover. Anticipate Pesach with two settings, by Sir Granville Bantock and Lukas Foss. Divine and romantic love unite in understated metaphor, this Sunday at 10 pm.
