On William Shakespeare’s birthday (observed), enjoy Walter Leigh’s incidental music for, and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s overture to, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Josef Bohuslav Foerster’s From Shakespeare, musical portraits of four female characters from Bard’s plays: Perdita from The Winter’s Tale, Viola from Twelfth Night, Lady Macbeth from, well, Macbeth, and Katherina from The Taming of the Shrew. Music and sweet poetry agree, this Sunday at 10 pm.
