On the Wind, Saturday at 4pm -- Music for symphonic winds, a trumpet concerto & a wind octet

buzz-lifetouch_-_copy_0.jpg

This week's On the Wind features In Wartime, written just prior to the start of the Iraq War in 2003, by David Del Tredici for Wind Orchestra.  It is a striking work.   That is followed by a trumpet concerto written by Jörg Widmann for the young wunderkind, Segie Nakariakov (now 45!!!) titled Ad Absurdum, a work that begins at a moto perpetuo pace and proceeds from there.  And finally, the Octet for Horn, Piano, 2 Violins, 2 Violas, cello and double bass by Sir Arnold Bax.

Israel Herman is in his 18th season as Music Director/Conductor of the Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra and has been the music director for the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra, the NJ Intergenerational Orchestra, and opera and guest conducting appearances. He has been Musical Director for musical theater productions for Playful Theater Productions, The Yardley Players, Pennington Players, Pierrot Productions and Maurer Productions On-Stage.
