Yael Weiss visits Between the Keys October 13th and 14th

Episode No. 277 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program features the Israeli-American pianist Yael Weiss in conversation with the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler.

Ms. Weiss is the mastermind behind 32 Bright Clouds: Beethoven Conversations Around the World, a project involving the commissioning of new piano works by 32 composers representing 32 countries of conflict and secluded areas. The pieces all are united through musical themes from Beethoven, and share the common “Dona Nobis Pacem” motive from the composer’s Missa Solemnis.

For this episode, the pianist offers works from 32 Bright Clouds by Aslıhan Keçebaşoğlu (Turkey), Adina Izarra (Venezuela) and Ananda Sukarlan (Indonesia. Concert streams can be found at: https://www.32brightclouds.com/concerts. Also listen to Rachel Katz's recent A Tempo interview with Yael Weiss, now avaiable as a webcast.

Tune in to Between the Keys on Tuesday October 13th at 10:00 PM, with a rebroadcast Wednesday October 14th at noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org
