The Art of Niklas Sivelöv on Between the Keys, November 9th and 10th

Episode 333 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, hosted by the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler, features the artistry of the 53-year-old Swedish pianist, composer and improviser Niklas Sivelöv.

“I’ve never met Mr. Sivelöv, nor have had any personal contact with him,”  Distler says. “However, earlier this year, purely by chance, I heard his recording of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier. It blew me away, his playing was so original and imaginative.  Then I got curious, so I started researching Sivelöv’s discography. I didn’t realize that he was also a fascinating composer in his own right, as well as a really terrific improviser.”

In addition to works of Bach, the program also will include music by Beethoven, Norgaard, Scriabin, Haydn, and, of course, Sivelöv himself.

Tune in to Between the Keys on Tuesday night November 9th at 10, with a rebroadcast Wednesday November 10th at noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
