On this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed DIstler devotes the hour to the music of J.S. Bach, and not just with pianists.
“In such a stressful, volatile year, I feel that Bach gives us a sense of much needed and desired order,” says Distler. “And although we’ll hear some terrific piano recordings this hour, I also wanted to compare four cellists in the G Major Cello Suite Prelude, and also to explore a wide variety of approaches to the ‘Crucifixus’ movement from Bach’s B Minor Mass.”
Among the many great musicians featured this hour will be cellist Juliana Soltis, organist John Butt, harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and Carlo Maria Giulini conducting the New Philharmonia Orchestra.
Tune in to Between the Keys this Tuesday December 28th at 10 PM, with a rebroadcast Wednesday December 29th at noon, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
