The Dress Circle: Songs from the Shows of December, 2017

For many, holiday preparations are already at a fever pitch, that’s why we’re taking a break this week (12/3  7:00p.m.) from holiday fare to take a look at some of the show that opened on Broadway in December.  We’ll turn to some Christmas themed shows at the end of the month, but we hope that you’ll join us for a respite without a sprig of holly in sight!  Some of the shows from which you’ll hear songs are Oscar Hammerstein’s adaptation of Bizet in “Carmen Jones,” the Gershwin’s “Lady Be Good!”, Richard Rodgers’ and Lorenz Hart’s “Pal Joey,” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” by Jule Styne and Leo Robin, and Cole Porter’s “Out of this world.”  We’ve limited the shows at which we’ll be looking to those opening on, or before, 1950, so there’ll be some old favorites and perhaps a few unfamiliar songs as well.  Join us each week at 7:00 p.m. (ET) through one of our webcasts.  As always, thank you for being a part of The Dress Circle family and for supporting The Classical Network.
