Pianist Martino Tirimo on Between the Keys May 12th
This Tuesday night on the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler showcases the artistry of Martino Tirimo, one of today’s most distinctive and frequently recorded pianists, whose recent box set release of Beethoven’s complete solo piano works marks the composer’s 250th birthday year in 2020.
“Mr. Tirimo and I got together in London this past October,” says Distler. “It was our first meeting in person, and I was impressed by his focus and dedication, as well as his inner strength and outward calm, not to be mention his musical observations and profound insights. By the end of our time together, I felt elevated and uplifted!.”
Tonight’s episode features musical selections by Janacek, Schubert, Debussy and, of course, Beethoven, along with excerpts from Distler’s interview with Tirimo.
