The Lost Chord: April 25 - Typecast IV: The Curse of Typecast

Played out on the Oscars?  In Part Four of a continuing series highlighting concert works by composers better known for their film scores, enjoy a triple-feature of the “Sonatina for Clarinet Choir” by Jerome Moross (“The Big Country,” “The Valley of Gwangi”), the “Essay for Strings” by John Williams (“Star Wars,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark”), and the “Symphony: Synthesis” by Laurie Johnson (pictured; “Dr. Strangelove,” “The Avengers”).  It isn’t always about images.  Film composers cast themselves against type, this Sunday at 10 pm.

Ross Amico is program host, and host of Picture Perfect which airs Saturdays at 6 pm and The Lost Chord which airs Sundays at 10 pm.
