As opera returns to the stage post-pandemic, there are continued efforts to bring new voices and new works to the stage. A Tempo this Saturday (10/30 at 7 pm) looks at upcoming projects by two organizations known for their commitment to modern works and new commissions - Opera Philadelphia and Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP). Host Rachel Katz will speak with Opera Philadelphia Director of New Works Sarah Williams, as well as composer Rene Orth and writer Kanika Ambrose, about the upcoming digital opera short film TakTakShoo, a work about renewal in a post-Covid time. The program also includes an interview with BMOP Founder and Artistic Director Gil Rose about its As Told By: History, Race and Justice on the Opera Stage initiative, a five-year partnership with Odyssey Opera that will celebrate opera by Black composers.
