A Tempo this Saturday (1/28 at 7 pm) looks at Princeton University Concerts' Healing With Music series, where musicians share their stories of recovery from illness and the role music played in that process.

Princeton University Concerts launched a new concert series last Fall featuring musicians who have faced illness or health challenges not only perform, but also share their stories of resilience, recovery, and the role music played in the process. This Healing Through Music series is just the latest initiative to explore the relationship between music and wellness, and A Tempo this week looks at the program and one of its first featured musical guests, cellist Joshua Roman.

Roman struggled with long COVID after coming down with the virus two years ago, and he shared his story with PUC audiences last November. A Tempo host Rachel Katz spoke with him about his experience, the lingering effects on his playing, and how his music helped bring him through, and this week's program features that interview. The program also includes a conversation with Princeton University Concerts Outreach Manager Dasha Koltunyuk about the inspiration for the series and this season's other guest musicians.
