Between the Keys with Jed Distler

May 17th & 18th: The Art of Ana-Marija Markovina

Pianist Ana-Marija Markovina has pursued a recording career that celebrates discovery, focusing upon comprehensive surveys of composers’ piano works. She became the first pianist to record C.P.E .Bach’s complete keyboard output, released by Hänssler in a 26 CD set. Markovina has also recorded complete editions of piano works by Anton Bruckner, Hugo Wolf, Anton Urspruch and Luise Adolpha Le Beau.

This year, Hänssler released a 12-CD box set with Ms. Markovina that encompasses the complete piano works of Felix Mendelssohn’s, including previously unrecorded pieces.

"I’ve known Ana-Marija for some time, and have followed her remarkable discography with great interest and admiration," says Between the Keys' creator, producer and host Jed Distler, who is The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence. " So I thought it was time to devote an episode to her artistry, and to chat with the pianist about her penchant for complete editions and her boundless curiosity and sense of inquiry, not to mention her protean pianistic gifts."

Tune in to Between the Keys this Tuesday night at 10, with a rebroadcast Wednesday at noon for music and conservation with Ana-Marija Markovina, exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
