Born in New York on September 20th 1922, William Kapell's meteoric career, stunning virtuosity and fierce musical integrity inspired a generation of pianists who came of age in post-war America.

In the decades since Kapell's tragic death in a 1953 plane crash, his legacy of studio recordings and live broadcasts has grown in stature and importance. On this week's edition of Between the Keys, The Classical Network's Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler will feature Kapell in works of Bach, Chopin, Copland, Granados, Mozart, Schubert and Rachaninov, as well as archival interviews with the pianist.

Celebrate William Kapell's 100th birthday this Tuesday night at 10, with a rebroadcast Wednesday at noon, exclusively on The C lassical Network and WWFM.org
