Benjamin Bagby recites Beowulf with his own harp accompaniment in the concert at the Institute for Advanced Study this Friday (10/21) at 10 pm. (Millennium of Music is pre-empted, but you can hear the encore broadcast Monday at noon).

In a special 10 pm concert broadcast, singer, composer, harpist and scholar Benjamin Bagby recites the ancient Anglo-Saxon tale of Beowulf as he accompanies himself on the harp. He has been touring with this program for more than 30 years, and he brought it to the IAS last Spring, after a two-year postponement because of Covid. IAS Artist-in-Residence David Lang joins host David Osenberg to introduce and discuss this performance and other upcoming IAS concerts.
