Tempesta di Mare performs music written for and performed by the female musicians of Venice’s orphanages on this concert broadcast Friday (3/8 at 8 pm).

Philadelphia’s Baroque Orchestra Tempesta di Mare takes us to 18th Century Venice in this performance from last May. The program features music written by Antonio Vivaldi and other composers for the city’s homes for abandoned children, including the Ospedali della Pieta, where all the musicians and leaders of these institutions’ outstanding music programs were women. Tempesta di Mare co-founder and artistic director Gwyn Roberts joins David Osenberg as co-host for this program.

David Osenberg is WWFM Partnership Manager, WWFM Music Director, Afternoon Host, and Host of award-winning Cadenza.
