The Dress Circle: Songs from the Shows of April

March didn’t seem to know if it was going to be the proverbial “lion” or “lamb” or be something else entirely, so what April will turn out to be is anyone’s guess. We’ll take some of the guesswork out of April on this week’s Dress Circle (4/3 7:00 p.m.) by looking at some of the shows that opened in New York this month.

We’re covering 116 years of theatre history as we begin with a song from a long-forgotten musical titled “Piff! Paff!! Pouf!!!” which opened in 1904. We’re lucky to have a song performed by one of its original cast members, Grace Cameron, titled “Since Dolly Dimple Made a Hit.” We’ll really shift gears with our most recent opening and a song called “Girl Scout” that’s featured in the musical version of “Beetlejuice.”

We’re once again looking at familiar and less-familiar shows. On the familiar side, you’ll hear songs from “She Loves Me,” “The King and I,” “The Producers,” “Chess,” and “Peter Pan.”

Our not so well-known shows include “Destry Rides Again,” “Tintypes,” “Call Me Mister,” “70, Girls, 70,” and “The Little Show.”

Our performers this week include Betty Garrett, Judy Kuhn, Cathy Rigby, Patina Miller, Alison Fraser, Karen Ziemba, Daniel Massey, Nathaniel Frey, Dolores Gray, Lynn Thigpen, and more!

Once again, we’re hoping to offer an hour of diverse and entertaining songs performed by excellent performers. We hope you’ll spend another happy evening with us this week.
