The Dress Circle with Ted Otten and Michael Kownacky

The Dress Circle: A Radio & Television Nostalgia Christmas

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

The first of two programs filled with Christmas nostalgia and fun from radio and television is on tap for this week’s Dress Circle (12/18 7:00 p.m.).

We’ll be looking at three original television musicals of the 1960s with songs from “The Gifts of the Magi” which starred Sally Ann Howes, “The Stingiest Man in Town” featuring Basil Rathbone as Scrooge, and “The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood” that had Liza Minelli in the title role, Cyril Ritchard as the wolf, and Eric Burdon and The Animals as, well, animals!

The world of Christmas Pop is represented by Big Crosby singing “Christmas in Killarney” and Kenny Gardner singing “The Christmas Waltz” with Guy Lombardo and his orchestra among others.

The centerpiece is a charming radio adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” featuring Ronald Coleman as Scrooge.

Give yourself a break from the holiday stress, grab a libation, and put your feet up for an hour of good old-fashioned Christmas memories with us.
