Schumann served rare? What is the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler cooking up?

Among the Schumann treasures featured on this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys include Agnelle Bundervoët playing an Intermezzo from Op. 4, both the Toccata Op. 7 and its seldom heard earlier incarnation, the Exercise Fantastique.
Schumann's Carnaval Op. 9 is the featured work this hour, in a performance by a virtually unknown pianist, Jascha Spivakovsky (1896-1970). Spivakovsky made no commercial recordings, yet his surviving live concert tapes, radio broadcasts and home recordings have gained a new lease on life in an ongoing series of releases produced by Andrew Rose.
