Rare Bach Recordings on Between the Keys November 26th

On Episode 231 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler digs deep his vast music library for rare piano performances of music by J.S. Bach

“There is such a wealth of Bach pianism on record that the general public does not know about,” says Distler. “For example, Western audiences know little of Takahiro Sonoda, one of the most popular Japanese pianists of his generation. He recorded tons of Bach. And what about the Hungarian pianist Agi Jambor? I treasure her 1950s Bach recordings, they are amazing. James Friskin was an important pedagogue who taught at Julliard since the school’s inception. And we’ll hear a Vladimir Horowitz specialty, but not in the Horowitz performance that you might expect!.”

Tune in this Tuesday at 10:00 PM for Between the Keys, an exclusive production of The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
