Exploring the Unfamiliar on Between the Keys January 14th

This week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys features relatively unknown music that nevertheless captures one’s ears and attention.

The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler invited his friend and colleague composer/pianist/writer Roger Tréfousse for a listening/discussion “blindfold test,” so to speak.

“We got together at my studio, and auditioned a number of piano pieces without prior knowledge of the composers or performers identities,” Distler explained. “After Roger and I listened, we commented on what we heard, before revealing who, what, where, when, and why. The ‘why’ being ‘why is this piece unknown? Wow, we really like it! Who knew!,’ you know, one revelation after another.”

Tune in to Between the Keys this Tuesday night at 10 for an episode guaranteed to stimulate and illuminate your musical taste buds, only here on The Classical Network and WWFM.org
