Michael Shapiro's Voices premiered at the Central Synagogue in New York

Sounds Choral this Sunday (11/20 at 2 pm) features excerpts from the premiere of Michael Shapiro's Voices, based on Sephardic poetry from the Holocaust, and an interview with the composer.

Host Deborah Simpkin King shares excerpts from the premiere performance of Voices by Michael Shapiro, an oratorio based on poetry by Jews in the Mediterranean region, including France, Greece and Italy, during the Holocaust. The performance featured tenor soloist Senior Cantor Daniel Mutlu, Ember Choral Arts and the American Modern Ensemble, conducted by Simpkin King. This week's episode also includes an interview with the composer.
