The Dress Circle: Songs from the Shows of November

Because of a special live performance of Rob Kapilow’s “What Makes It Great” this week, The Dress Circle will begin directly after the concert, around 9:00 p.m.

It’s November, so we’re welcoming in the month with songs from just a few of the shows that have opened in New York in November on this week’s Dress Circle (11/6 9:00 p.m.).

We’re beginning with a hit from 1900 that ran for an incredible 505 performances. “Florodora” was the show that had to be seen at the beginning of the 20th century. We’ll then jump 119 years to the opening of “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” that brought Adrienne Warren back to Broadway where she won a Tony Award for her performance.

Once again, we’re filling our time with a wide variety of both well-known and far lesser-known shows.

Our well-known works include “The Lion King,” “Billy Elliot,” “Bells are Ringing,” “Grand Hotel,” “Hello, Dolly!”, “Guys and Dolls,” and “Mary Poppins.”

On the other side, we have forgotten works like “Funny Face,” “L’il Abner,” “Pins and Needles,” and “Anya.”

Variety is the spice of life, and we’re thrilled to say that there isn’t a pumpkin in sight in this week’s program.
