Composer/lyricist Sheldon Harnick is the subject again for this week’s Dress Circle (7/16 7:00 p.m.) as we pay tribute to him after his passing last month.

Once again, we have a full slate of interesting songs that come from some of the lesser-known or forgotten works by this Broadway Legend. From a song he wrote for Leonard Sillman’s “New Faces of ‘52” to the first time that he worked with Jerry Bock in “The Body Beautiful” to songs that were cut from “Fiddler on the Roof,” it’s sure to be an interesting evening of listening.

We’ve also included songs from his first “book musical” which he wrote with David Baker that ran 22 performances off-Broadway entitled “Smiling the Boy Fell Dead” and the musical about Henry VIII entitled “Rex” that he wrote with Richard Rodgers.

Also, we can’t forget one of our favorites, “The Apple Tree,” a series of three one-act musicals based on works by Mark Twain, Frank R. Stockton, and Jules Feiffer.

This isn’t a program of analyzing Harnick’s works; it’s all about listening and enjoying, and there’s plenty here to enjoy.
