The Rough and Ready Theatre Festival is a celebration of emerging voices, fresh ideas, and fearless experimentation. This fast-paced festival features a collection of short theatre pieces—each 10 to 15 minutes or less—ranging from brand new plays to devised ensemble work.

In the spirit of collaboration and creative exchange, the steering committee of the festival has come up with three themes to aid playwrights and devisers tocreate work:

1. Diamonds Rough and Ready

2. Make the World Better

3. Funny Fast and/or Furious

The festival is broken up into three acts (the themes are weaved throughout all three acts), so that participants in the festival are encouraged to explore multiple roles across acts— for example: performing in one, directing in another, and stage managing in the third act—creating a full-circle experience in storytelling and stagecraft, but it’s totally fine if a participant only wants to do one role.
