The band Soulive brings a mix of funk, hip-hop and jazz to its exciting live shows. As a result, brothers Alan and Neil Evans, with their friend Eric Krasno, have built a large international following.
Drummer Alan Evans backs up his organist brother and Krasno, who plays guitar, as the trio does their level best to translate jazz back onto the dance floors it came from. Their latest efforts can be heard on Break Out.
While they've retained some of their jam-band beginnings, Soulive has also expanded to work with other artists, from Chaka Khan to Corey Glover of Living Color. Also thrown into the mix are occasional strains of steel guitar, trombone and clavinet.
