Beethoven Served Rare on Between the Keys June 16th

This week on the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler presents piano music of Beethoven in rare recordings.

“The history of recorded Beethoven is really a history of performance practice,” says Distler. “And we’ll cover a century’s worth of traditions, from Josef Labor born in 1842 up through Maurizio Pollini born in 1942. And the pianists in between will prove equally diverse and antipodal, from the angular, combative Beethoven of Kurt Appelbaum and Beveridge Webster to lyrical tone painters like Maria Tipo and Maria Donska.”

Tune in Tuesday June 16th at 10:00 PM for Between the Keys Episode 160: Beethoven Served Rare, only here on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
