Some may think that the old saying “those who can, do; those who can’t, teach” applies to piano teachers. Yet the fact is that some of the world’s most influential piano teachers happened to be great pianists and artists in their own right.
On Episode 283 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler celebrates such pedagogical luminaries, featuring rare recordings by Cecile Staub Genhart, Olga Samaroff, Mieczyslaw Munz, Heinrich Neuhaus, Bruce Simonds, Donald Currier, Tobias Matthay, Constance Keene, Sidney Foster, David Saperton and Howard Karp.
Listen to Between the Keys on Tuesday November 24th, with a rebroadcast Wednesday November 25th at noon, exclusivelyre on The Classical Network and WWFM.org.
