Rare finds on Between the Keys, October 26th and 27th

On this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys, The Classical Newtwork’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler presents a varied playlist consisting of rare and hard-to-find piano recordings from his vast personal collection.

“So many hard-to-find yet worthy and wonderful piano recordings fall between the cracks, because they tend not to last too long in the catalog” says Distler. “Over the years I’ve built up a pretty impressive and wide ranging library, and I feel that it’s part of my mission to share these performances, to remind listeners that’s there’s lots of wonderful music making that shouldn’t be forgotten.”

Distler features recordings by Jörg Demus, William Corbett-Jones, Ingrid Fliter, Walter Rummel, Grigori Sokolov, Catherine Collard, Guiomar Novaes, Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod, and The Classical Network’s very own David Dubal. "David's Musical Heritage Society release featuring Romantic era composer/pianists has been scandalously out of print for some time. And what better way to top off a program of rarities?"

Tune in Tuesday night October 26th at 10, and Wednesday October 27th at noon for Between the Keys Episode 331: “Rare and Super Rare,” exclusively on The Classical Network and WWFM.org
