For this week’s episode of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys the Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler demonstrates slow cooking.
“Well, not literally, but figuratively,” Jed explains. “ Time seemed to slow down and often stopped altogether during our lockdown in New York. As a result, I gravitated towards unusually slow performances of favorite pieces. So I thought, why not try this on Between the Keys? I put together a playlist of really slow yet grippingly sustained piano performances that actually seem to work well together, and I think they’ll hold your attention.”
Pianists include Ivo Pogorelich, Glenn Gould, Jean-Rodolphe Kars, Livia Rev, Sergio Fiorentino and Irakly Avaliani.
