Episode No. 275 of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Virgil Thomson Award winning program Between the Keys finds The Classical Network’s Artist-in-Residence Jed Distler serving up tangos and tarantellas for the piano.
“Why tangos and tarantellas?,” says Distler. “Honestly, the idea was a just a crazy whim. But as this episode started coming together, a strong musical trajectory revealed itself, and, as a result, I can definitely promise you a stimulating keyboard journey. To tell you the truth, we did an episode about tangos and tarantellas four years ago, and it's only now that I'm getting around to the sequel!"
Featured composers include John Corigliano, Virgil Thomson, Paul Turock, Eve Beglarian, Claude Debussy, Stefan Wolpe, Elena Kats-Cherkin, Camille Saint-Saëns, Lalo Schifrin and Sergei Rachmaninov.
