This week A Tempo features conversations about two recently released classical albums. Host Rachel Katz will speak with Odyssey Opera Artistic and General Director Gil Rose about the opera company's recording of Camille Saint-Saëns' entire Henry VIII, which even at its premiere in 1883 did not include all of the composer's material. Baritone Michael Chioldi, who sang the title role in the 2019 performance captured in the recording, will also join the conversation. The program also includes a chat with composer Margaret Brouwer, whose new release Reactions features a collection of songs and chamber works, including a work written to capture her thoughts and emotions during the summer of 2020, reflecting the isolation of the pandemic and social emotions following the killing of George Floyd.
